Normal Work Schedule:

8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday; Some evenings and weekends required


Essential Functions:

• Serves as the administrator for the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP).
• Provides oversight of all grant activity.
• Serves as liaison for OSP with deans, university administrators, and staff.
• Creates and fosters an environment of support for the University research and service community and offers appropriate training.
• Sets goals, develops strategic plans, and implements programs to increase external and contract support for faculty and research centers.
• Assists administration in the development of policies to promote grants and contracts supporting the University’s mission, vision, and goals.
• Participates in planning discussions as needed for business purposes and organizational readiness for new administrative initiatives which will impact grant administration, compliance, and support services.
• Directs the ongoing process of proposal development, including identification of viable opportunities, coordination with faculty, timeline management and submission based on instructions and evaluation criteria of funding sources.
• Provides training sessions on grants and contracts as needed to stimulate submission of grants/contracts and compliance with submission and administration requirements.
• Provides oversight for dissemination of electronic information about funding opportunities to faculty and staff on a regular basis.
• Provides faculty grant/contract facilitation and grant/contract submissions review for viability and potential for success of proposals.
• Coordinates with University personnel, including faculty, department heads, deans, vice-presidents, and others to respond to funding opportunities and reviews individual grant proposals with faculty and staff to ensure compliance.
• Provides oversight for writing sections for proposals that describe the University’s capabilities, management processes, and assessment plans..
• Works with University Institutional Research Review (IRB) Board to ensure institutional compliance.
• Prepares and/or supervises the preparation of reports and studies regarding opportunities for external funding of research, review criteria, and funding targets of proposal activity.
• Compiles statistical reports and other data reports to the University administration, including monthly and annual reports, as well as other reports as needed.
• Monitors policy changes implemented by external sponsors.
• Oversees and assures compliance with administrative and fiscal terms of all grants
• Reviews all grant award notices and coordinates with principal investigators/project directors, grants accountant, and other Finance and Administration staff to ensure fiscal compliance; monitors compliance in the post-award period.
• Supervises the direct maintenance of essential records and files related to grants and contracts.
• Serves as liaison with federal, state, local, and non-profit funders.
• Develops and keeps up-to-date handbooks and guides to assist faculty and staff in the grants process.
• Supervises maintenance of unit’s website
• Supervises support staff to ensure that all work is completed accurately and successfully.
• Participates in professional meetings and conferences as appropriate.
• Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Minimum Qualifications:

 

• Master's degree in research administration, business administration, educational administration,  public administration, or related field

• at least five (5) years of documented experience and success in higher education grant or contract administration


Preferred Qualifications:

• Earned doctorate in one of the above areas or related field
