The Associate Vice President, Student Affairs for Enrollment Management (AVPEM) position at Jacksonville State University offers a rewarding opportunity for an experienced, collaborative and innovative enrollment leader to bring their proven record of accomplishment in recruitment, enrollment and retention to the role.

The successful candidate has a proven history of leveraging technology and the latest recruitment practices to achieve recruitment and retention goals and meet the evolving needs within their areas of responsibility (enrollment, recruitment, and admissions).

The AVPEM oversees and provides strategic leadership and support to the student recruitment and admissions processes, including transfer students. The charge for this position is to achieve enrollment goals, maintain quality service, and collaborate across campus to ensure student development, growth, high retention and on-time graduation rates.

Reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs, the position works closely with the Provost & Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Vice President of Student Affairs, the Vice President for Finance and Administration and other key university leaders to develop and implement programs and services that improve student enrollment, retention, and success. In close collaboration with the Office of Marketing and Communication, the AVPEM also develops innovative and effective communication and marketing strategies to attract students to the University.

The AVPEM brings a wide spectrum of experience working and supporting numerous areas across campus including Student Success, Financial Aid and Scholarships. They direct and supervise recruitment and admission processes and operations, including marketing/target analysis, prospect-enrollment pipeline development, application review and follow-up, high school/community college outreach, and off-campus recruitment events, and, in coordination with Marketing, develop print and electronic admissions material, tele-counseling, web content and social media strategies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Education, College Student Personnel, Counseling, Business Management, Marketing or related field from an accredited institution
  • Minimum five (5) years progressively responsible experience within higher education admissions, enrollment management, communications, market research, financial aid, and/or student information systems
  • Working knowledge of FERPA
  • Working knowledge of federal financial aid policies and strategies
  • Experience working with first generation students
  • Knowledge of higher education student enrollment best practices including enrollment trends, data analytics, and digital and traditional recruitment practices

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate in higher education administration
  • Demonstrated successful strategic leadership within higher education, managing departments and programs
  • Using enrollment management technology for student recruitment, admissions, and student records
  • Working knowledge of SACS Accreditation
  • Demonstrated experience with financial and resource allocation
  • Knowledge of Administrative Banner

About Jacksonville State University

Jacksonville State University (JSU) is a regional public coeducational university located in Jacksonville, Alabama. Founded in 1883, Jacksonville State offers programs of study in five academic units leading to Bachelor's, Master's, Education Specialist, and Doctorate in addition to continuing and distance education programs. In the Fall semester of 2011, JSU began offering the school's first doctoral degree, Doctor of Science in Emergency Management.
