Normal Work Schedule:

8:00 am - 4:30 pm  Monday - Friday, some evenings and weekends

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of EPIC, the Coordinator of LRC Facilities and Conservation coordinates and assists in directing operational activities related to maintenance, repair, custodial care, minor construction, alterations, and management of the grounds, buildings and other physical facilities of the Little River Canyon (LRC) Center. This position ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and University policies and procedures. The Coordinator also oversees, executes, completes, and inspects all the LRC construction and renovation projects.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides direct services related to janitorial and security services and road and trail maintenance.
  • Manages and controls the cleaning of classrooms, restrooms, offices, windows, stairwells, entrances, sidewalks, corridors, carpets and floor of campus buildings both on a routine and special event basis.
  • Maintains and oversees repairs to HVAC, wireless and alarm systems, AV equipment and floors.
  • Operates equipment used in the maintenance and beautification of grounds, such as chain saw to remove fallen trees; lawn mower or tractor to mow grass in large areas, front end loader to move dirt, etc.
  • Serves as liaison between the university and outside partners to maintain and develop the building and its property.
  • Develops and implements maintenance partnerships that encourage sustainability.
  • Works closely with conservation organizations to develop and maintain partnerships and funding.
  • Provides supervision, training, and scheduling of custodial and grounds staff when applicable.
  • Engages in maximizing sustainability and energy efficiency of buildings and grounds.
  • Promotes and enforces safe work practices.
  • Participates in professional meetings, conferences, presentations, and travels to JSU main campus as needed.
  • Leads groups on nature hikes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum two (2) years related work experience.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as programs require.
  • Ability to respond to after-hour alarms and system failures within 30 minutes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or related field.
  • Previous project management experience relating to construction and/or building management of a complex educational facility.
