8:00am – 4:30pm  Monday – Friday

May vary depending on University need & some evening and weekends for special events

Job Summary:

The Coordinator of Student Activities is responsible for planning student activities and special events and reports to the Dean of Students. This position is responsible for planning major events within the Dean of Students Office including, but not limited to: concerts, Miss JSU, Collegiate Legislature, Family Day/Weekend, Welcome Week Activities, student tailgate, and marketing for the Dean of Students Office. The Coordinator of Student Activities will work closely with the Assistant Dean of Students-Student Life, the SGA Vice President of Student Activities and the Student Activities Council to implement events for all students. Work is assigned with general instructions from the Dean of Students and reviewed for effectiveness and adherence to office and departmental goals.

Essential Functions:

  • Serves as advisor to the Student Activities Council.
  • Plans and coordinates all student related activities and functions.
  • Plans, coordinates, and promotes major events that may include concerts, comedy shows, and/or festivals.
  • Promotes, organizes, and coordinates campus special events and activities such as Family Day/Weekend events, Welcome Week Activities, and Student Tailgate for gamedays.
  • Serves as Director of Miss JSU Scholarship Pageant.
  • Coordinates Marketing for all student activities and events on campus.
  • Reports notes to the Dean of Students to be included in Board of Trustee notes.
  • Maintains and regularly publishes an up to date calendar of activities and events that is made readily available to all JSU students.
  • Performs other duties assigned by the Dean of Students. 

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience in student organizations
  • Ability and willingness to work nights and weekends

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Campus leadership experience preferred
