Essential Functions:

The Housing Operations Student Tour Guide (HOST) position provides prospective students, families, and guests the opportunity to explore JSU’s variety of on-campus living options. HOSTs are responsible for guiding scheduled housing tours and representing Housing Operations at university events such as Preview Days, Gamecock Orientations, Accepted Student Days, etc. HOSTs will also be expected to perform daily office operations and other duties as assigned during times when no tours are scheduled. HOSTs will participate in proper training where they will gain working knowledge of the on-campus communities before taking on these responsibilities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a full-time student of sophomore status or higher
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License to operate a university owned vehicle
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be available to work a minimum of 4 hours (2 shifts) per week
  • Must be available to work occasional weekend events such as Preview Days
  • Must be available to work the following schedule:
  • Housing Tours:
  • Monday
  • 12:30 - 1:30
  • 3:30 - 4:30
  • Tuesday
  • 11:00 – 12:00
  • 1:00 – 2:00
  • 3:00 – 4:00
  • Wednesday
  • 12:30 - 1:30
  • 3:30 - 4:30
  • Thursday
  • 11:00 – 12:00
  • 1:00 – 2:00
  • 3:00 – 4:00
  • Friday
  • 12:30 - 1:30
  • 3:30 - 4:30

    • Due to Visa requirements international students must be enrolled as a full-time JSU student and possess each of the following:
  1. Passport from their respective country.

  5. Official Social Security Card imprinted with “Valid for Work Only” or similar statement.
