Job Summary:

The Coordinator of Clinical Placements and School Partnerships functions in coordination and leadership of the clinical experiences component of the education preparation program, serving as the liaison between the various teacher education programs and school systems in scheduling and implementing placement arrangements for undergraduate and graduate clinical experiences.  The Coordinator of Clinical Placements and School Partnerships also assists the School of Education academic departments and PK-12 school administrators in establishing mutually beneficial clinical partnerships and practice.

Essential Functions:

  • Develops, secures, and maintains positive, collaborative relationships with JSU faculty, university supervisors, cooperating teachers, principals, and school system superintendents to foster effective P-12 partnerships and high-quality field experience placements
  • Implements standards and policies governing clinical experiences as approved and directed
  • Conducts information and orientation meetings for students, faculty, and staff
  • Counsels and advises teacher candidates in areas related to field placements, in collaboration with university supervisors and department administrators
  • Works in conjunction with JSU In-Service Center and JSU Financial Aid to ensure cooperating teachers are awarded appropriate CEUs and/or JSU scholarship credit for hosting teacher candidates
  • Manages online data collection instruments, assists in maintaining online and offline collection of placement and evaluation data for use in reports, including but not limited to CAEP, JSU, SoE, departments, programs, and other internal and external publics
  • Secures and coordinates quality practicum and internship placements in partner schools for approximately 300-400 teacher candidates participating in field experiences each fall and spring semester
  • Produces clinical experiences publications
  • Serves on various university committees as assigned
  • Represents the School of Education at various functions and participates in professional organizations as assigned
  • Oversees the processing of travel reimbursement for School of Education university supervisors
  • Reviews and maintains practicum and internship applications of teacher candidates enrolled in courses requiring clinical experience placements
  • Works in conjunction with academic department heads in the training of cooperating teachers and university supervisors
  • Creates and maintains an extensive database of partner schools and cooperating teachers for use by the Office of Clinical Experiences, Teacher Education Services, School of Education, academic programs and departments
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an education or administrative-related field
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PK-12 schools and education
  • Demonstrated extensive knowledge of and fluency in word processing, databases, spreadsheet, programs, presentation platforms; ability to effectively supervise staff; and ability to relate to and work effectively and cooperatively with diverse constituents 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education or an administrative-related field, from a regionally accredited institution 
  • Experience in PK-12 education and higher education, such as teaching experience and/or administration/leadership
