Geography Tenure-Track Faculty Position

The Department of Chemistry and Geosciences of the Jacksonville State University’s School of Science is seeking to hire a scholar for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor.

We welcome applications from those with expertise in geography, and a specialization in Native American Archeology. A mastery of GIS tools is required. In addition to teaching, successful candidates are expected to develop externally sponsored scholarly research programs.

All applicants must have an earned Doctorate in Geography, Archeology, or Geographic Information Science (GIS) at the time of appointment.  The successful candidate will have experience and knowledge of the following: ability to develop and apply Python Scripting; understanding of Spatial Statistics, Spatial Analysis, and Geo-Processing; knowledge and application for Drone UAV - and Lidar Data Collection and Processing; data acquisition and application; GIS, Spatial Analytics, Geo-visualization, and Remote Sensing software, and the ability to develop and instruct field study with Project Based Learning approaches.
