The David L. Walters Department of Music at Jacksonville State University (Jax State) invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Percussion for the Fall 2025 semester. Primary duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate applied percussion, percussion studio, percussion ensemble, and class percussion. Other responsibilities include recruiting and maintaining a quality percussion studio. The department offers undergraduate programs of study in Music Education, Music Performance, and General Music. In addition, the department offers graduate programs in General Music and Music Education. At least 18 graduate hours in the discipline are required.

Assistant Professor, Criminal Justice & Forensic Investigation Jacksonville, AL (Main Campus)
The Department of Criminal Justice & Forensic Investigation invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice & Forensic Investigation. The position is for teaching undergraduate and graduate Criminal Justice and/or Forensic Investigation courses, based on applicant qualifications, and requires teaching competencies in the various fields of criminal justice or forensic investigation. Courses are offered through various delivery formats including face-to-face, hybrid/blended, and 100% on-line. While teaching will be the successful candidate’s primary responsibility, student mentoring, service to the institution and community, and scholarship within the discipline are also required.   This tenure-track position entails approximately 9 months of full-time service beginning August 2025.
University Student Assistant - Athletics Photographer (Spring - Summer 2025) Jacksonville, AL (Main Campus)
The Media Relations University Student Aid will be a photographer for Athletic Events and also assist faculty and staff with media relations services for athletic teams. Positions may be filled based on individual applicants’ skills, qualifications, and departmental needs. Adheres to all department and University policies and procedures.
University Student Assistant - The Chanticleer Section Editors (Spring 2025) Jacksonville, AL (Main Campus)
The University Student Assistant/Chanticleer section editors help the editor-in-chief plan, manage, and supervise the coverage and publication of The Chanticleer, JSU’s student-run news organization, across all its platforms, which may include the web, social media, print and other forms of media. The section editors work with the editor-in-chief to ensure The Chanticleer provides timely, editorially independent coverage of events and issues that are important to JSU students and the broader university community. Students in this position are assigned to manage coverage of general news, feature stories and sports under the supervision of the editor-in-chief and with the assistance and advice of the director of student media, with whom the editorial staff must work closely on all matters relating to content and publication. Editors must be or become familiar with the Society of Professional Journalists’ Code of Ethics and use the code as a guide for The Chanticleer’s newsgathering and publication. Positions may be filled based on individual applicants’ skills, qualifications, and departmental needs. Adheres to all department and University policies and procedures.
