The program director must be or become familiar with the Society of Professional Journalists’ Code of Ethics and use the code as a guide. The program director also must be or become familiar with FCC requirements pertaining to WLJS’s broadcast license and help ensure compliance with those requirements from the student staff.

| The Student Media Business Manager supports the operation of Jax State’s student media outlets – The Chanticleer and WLJS 91.9 FM – by developing financial support appropriate for each outlet.
Specifically, the business manager helps the WLJS program director develop and manage relationships with businesses, nonprofit groups, individuals, and other entities to develop support for WLJS 91.9 FM, JSU’s student-run radio station, across all its platforms, which may include terrestrial broadcasting, digital streaming audio, podcasts, the web, social media and other forms of media. The business manager maintains contact with existing patrons and advertisers and initiates contact with potential new patrons and advertisers to develop financial and other forms of support for WLJS and The Chanticleer in their mission to serve JSU students and the broader university community.
The business manager also manages the sale and publication of advertising for The Chanticleer across all its platforms, which may include the web, social media, print and other forms of media.
As a member of the student media staff, the business manager works closely with the other student staff members and with the director of student media. The business manager also must be or become familiar with FCC requirements pertaining to WLJS’s broadcast license and help ensure compliance with those requirements from the student staff and in the station’s agreements with patrons. The business manager also must be or become familiar with ethical and legal issues around the publication of advertising in student media.
