Assistant Professor, Physics

The Department of Physics of Jacksonville State University’s College of Science and Mathematics is seeking to hire a scholar for an Assistant Professor of Physics.

The Assistant Professor, in the College of Science and Mathematics provides educational services in the department of Chemistry and Geosciences to traditional and non-traditional students during the day or evening. The Assistant Professor may be required to teach Physics and related courses on campus, off-campus, and online courses depending on need of the department and location.  This position has an anticipated start date of January 3, 2023.

Candidates must possess:

  • Doctorate degree in Physics or related field
  • Accomplishments sufficient to indicate the ability to meet requirements of Assistant Professor at JSU in teaching, service, and scholarly publications
  • Pursue Certificate of Online Instruction (COI)

The preferred candidate will possess:

  • Be an active and effective MENTOR and advisor to undergraduate students
  • Can effectively and actively TEACH students using various approaches
  • Commitment to Scholarly Activities, Professional Engagement, and Community Service
  • Actively recruit students in Physics and the College of Science
  • Lead student research and potential publications
