Assistant Professor, Counseling and Instructional Support
The Department of Counseling & Instructional Support at Jacksonville State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor in Counselor Education beginning August 2023. The primary duties of the successful candidate will be to serve as a core faculty member in the CACREP accredited Clinical Mental Health & School Counseling Programs at the master’s and Ed.S. level.
The mission of the Counseling & Instructional Support department is to provide to students instruction related to knowledge, skills, and dispositions of the specific area of their major. A strong commitment to instructional technology and school improvement is recognized by all faculty members in the department.
The JSU College of Education & Professional Studies proudly serves the citizens of northeast Alabama, the southeast, and the nation through our traditional and online programs of study. Required Qualifications:
- An earned doctoral degree in Counselor Education from a CACREP accredited program with
- A focus in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Counseling, Community Counseling, or marriage, couple, and family counseling ;
- Two years of clinical and supervision experience; (
- Evidence of counseling, supervision, and teaching experience in counselor education;
- Evidence of the ability to maintain a record of high quality research and scholarship;
- Evidence of the ability to engage in professional service, leadership, and advocacy;
- Evidence of the ability to engage in the integration of advocacy, social justice, cultural competence, and ethical practice into the preparation of counseling professionals; and
- Must hold or be eligible for certification and licensure in the State of Alabama.
Candidates must possess an earned Doctorate in Counselor Education. ABD will be considered with the expectation the degree will be completed on or before August 1, 2024. This position has an anticipated start date of August 14, 2023.
