Adjunct Faculty Position, English

Job Summary

The Department of English seeks Adjunct Faculty to teach composition, writing studios, speech, and/or literature surveys, as well as other courses as needed , and conduct weekly office hours.  Courses are taught in person, hybrid, and/or online.

Applicants must have a minimum of a master’s degree in a field appropriate to the discipline with at least 18 hours completed in graduate-level English courses.  Transcripts submitted with the application must show these minimum qualifications.

In addition to their qualifications and experience, the cover letter must address the applicant’s availability to teach in person on the JSU campus Monday-Thursday between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Fridays 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The CV must include at least three references with current email addresses and phone numbers.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a field appropriate to the discipline with at least 18 hours completed in graduate-level English courses.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in English.
  • Experience with in-person, hybrid, and/or online instruction.
  • Experience with Canvas or another learning management system.
  • Experience mentoring students.
  • Experience working with culturally diverse populations.
