Job Summary:
The University IT Support Specialist plays a crucial role in providing technical expertise and support services to enhance the functionality of the university's academic and administrative environments. This position involves diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues, assisting users with technical inquiries, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the campus technology infrastructure.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Technical Assistance: Offer expert technical support to faculty, staff, and students by diagnosing and resolving hardware and software-related problems promptly and effectively.
- Network Support: Assist in maintaining and troubleshooting the university's network infrastructure, ensuring seamless connectivity and efficient data transmission.
- Hardware and Software Support: Provide guidance and solutions for hardware and software installations, configurations, and updates, keeping systems up-to-date and optimized.
- Problem Solving: Identify and address issues with computers, peripherals, and software applications to minimize disruptions and ensure consistent performance.
- User Training: Conduct training sessions to help users understand and utilize various technology tools effectively for both academic and administrative purposes.
- System Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance tasks, such as updates, patches, and system optimizations, to ensure security and functionality.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of technical issues, solutions applied, and preventive measures taken to assist in future troubleshooting.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with other IT team members to tackle complex technical challenges and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Technology Upgrades: Assist in planning and executing hardware and software upgrades to align with the university's technological advancements.
- Security Awareness: Promote and enforce IT security best practices among users to safeguard sensitive data and maintain a secure computing environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field. An equivalent combination of experience and training may be substituted for degree requirement.
- Strong knowledge of hardware and software troubleshooting, installation, and maintenance.
- Familiarity with network protocols, configurations, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Proficiency in operating systems such as Windows, macOS, and Linux.
- Excellent communication skills to convey technical information clearly to non-technical users.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Prior experience in providing IT support in an educational or university setting is a plus.
