This position manages day-to-day business and finance activities to ensure the department operates efficiently and meets the expectations and needs of both customers and staff. Assists with the administrative aspects and has operational control of a range of business transactions and projects. May work on assignments related to department initiatives, internal operating procedures, business processes, and policies. The position works collaboratively with campus partners to support the institution and department.
Groundskeeper/Laborer Jacksonville, AL (Main Campus)
The Groundskeeper Laborer performs lawn and grounds work of an unskilled nature that will vary with the season. Responsibilities involve physical labor that is conducted mostly out of doors in all weather conditions. Tasks may occasionally include those on a semi-skilled level. University Student Assistant - Police Communications Officer (Summer 2026 - Fall 2026) Jacksonville, AL (Main Campus)

Also, the manager assists in long-range utility planning, developing operating budgets, and implementing energy-saving and sustainability initiatives. Assistant Professor, Political Science Jacksonville, AL (Main Campus)
The Department of Sociology and Political Science invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Political Science. This is a full-time, tenure-track position with a primary teaching focus. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in comparative politics and international relations. Department Head, Aviation Jacksonville, AL (Main Campus)
Jacksonville State University’s College of Social and Behavioral Sciences invites applications for a Department Head of Aviation to lead a newly created department at Jacksonville State University. This full-time, tenure-track, 12-month position will begin May 2026. This department head will report to the Dean of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, who reports directly to the Provost and Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs. This hire is the first in the department, which is expected to grow by one faculty member every other year, so the department head will have an opportunity to shape the department and program by providing vision, leadership, direction, and expert administration. A terminal degree is required along with at least five years’ experience flying. Leadership experience in an academic setting, the military, or the private sector is also required. The salary is contingent upon qualifications, experience, and needs of the university.

A Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) in the Mathematical, Computing, and Informational Sciences – Mathematics department assists faculty by teaching lower-level courses or labs; developing teaching materials; and preparing and grading examinations, papers, or other student work. The GTAs must be assigned to and responsible for teaching a credit bearing course and will be under the supervision of a faculty member experienced in the teaching field. A GTA’s work with students will be closely supervised and must provide opportunities to gain teaching skills and a better grasp of the academic discipline. The supervising faculty member is responsible for overseeing the assignment of all grades to students in the courses.
