Assistant Professor, Music (Percussion)

The Department of Music in Jacksonville State University’s College of Arts, Humanities, and Sciences invites applications for an Assistant Professor position

The David L. Walters Department of Music at Jacksonville State University (Jax State) invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Percussion for the Fall 2025 semester. Primary duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate applied percussion, percussion studio, percussion ensemble, and class percussion. Other responsibilities include recruiting and maintaining a quality percussion studio. The department offers undergraduate programs of study in Music Education, Music Performance, and General Music. In addition, the department offers graduate programs in General Music and Music Education. At least 18 graduate hours in the discipline are required.

Position Requirements

Candidates must have an earned master’s degree appropriate to the teaching field along with experience teaching in college or the related field. The selected candidate must also possess a strong record of creative activity and/or scholarly accomplishments appropriate to the level of appointment. Demonstrated excellence and achievement in musicianship and performance skills are also required.

Preference may be given to those who possess a doctorate.

This position has an anticipated start date of August 1, 2025.
