Job Summary:

The Success Coach, Transfer & Adult Learners oversees student assistance relying on assessment and theory-based interventions while maintaining records and reporting ongoing progress. Additionally, the Success Coach, Transfer & Adult Learners is responsible for implementing strategies designed to increase student success and university retention rates, provides academic skills assessments, strengths development, encouragement, and assistance for a diverse population of enrolled and newly admitted adult students. This is a student success position that works under general supervision of the Director, Transfer & Adult Student Learning Support, receives Success Coach training and development from the Coordinator of Success Coaching from the Department of Academic Support & Success, and collaborates with Military & Post Traditional Student Services and Director of Transfer Initiatives to enhance outcomes for transfer and adult learners.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the Success Coach for Transfer Students and Adult Learners.
  • Formulates strategic initiatives for supporting transfer and adult learners through collaborations with the Director of Transfer Initiatives and Director of Military and Post Traditional student services.
  • Assesses students on caseload using assessment tools and instruments approved by the Director of Academic Support & Success and Director of Transfer & Adult Student Learning Support.
  • Provides interventions based on individual assessment scores that will focus on academic, social, and life skills development.
  • Connects transfer and adult learners with campus resources.
  • Assists with planning and facilitating academic recovery programming for Transfer and Adult Learners using a variety of theoretical approaches and institutional data.
  • Serves as the first contact for Transfer and Adult Learner students’ concerns, issues, and needs.
  • Tracks Transfer and Adult Learner students’ academic progress and records success coach meeting reports in EAB Navigate.
  • Works collaboratively with faculty, student support staff, and other university personnel to support success for Transfer and Adult Learners.
  • Provides accurate data reporting regarding Transfer and Adult Learners.
  • Conducts ongoing research regarding Transfer and Adult student retention.
  • Adheres to operating policies and procedures.
  • Participates in University sponsored preview and recruitment days and Student Success Center programs and activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in adult education, other education degree, psychology, social work, or related field and experience in higher education and/or academic support for students in higher education

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in adult education, other education degree, psychology, social work, or related field and multiple years’ experience in higher education and/or academic support for students in higher education.
