Assistant Professor of Music, French Horn
The David L. Walters Department of Music at Jacksonville State University (Jax State) invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Music, French Horn. Primary duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate applied French Horn and conducting the Horn Choir.
The department offers undergraduate programs of study in Music Education, Music Performance, Music Industry, and General Music. In addition, the department offers graduate programs in General Music and Music Education.
Position Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a collaborative spirit, a strong background in music pedagogy, performance, and curriculum development, as well as a passion for fostering student success in music settings. The successful candidate should exhibit active involvement with recruitment and retention of music majors. Other responsibilities based on the successful candidate’s expertise and departmental needs may be assigned. To be considered for the position, applicants must submit a cover letter, resume or CV, and unofficial transcripts. Official transcripts will be required upon hire.
A doctorate or ABD in the discipline is required.
This position has an anticipated start date of August 1, 2026.
