Position Summary:
The Network Architecture and Infrastructure Support Department is responsible for the design, installation, and maintenance of the university data network. The University Student Assistant provides an essential service to the University community and its various constituencies by operating the University’s switchboard consoles by answering, transferring, and directing incoming local and long-distance calls and referring questions to the proper office or person in a courteous and professional manner. Additional duties include assisting Faculty, Staff, Students, and the General Public with requests for call transfers, directions to locations on or off campus, and other such tasks. Customer service, verbal, writing, and interacting with people skills are a must.
Positions may be filled based on individual applicants’ skills, qualifications, and departmental needs.
Adheres to all department and University policies and procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provides an essential service to the University community and its various constituencies by operating the University’s switchboard consoles by answering, transferring, and directing incoming local and long-distance calls and referring questions to the proper office or person in a courteous and professional manner.
- Assist Faculty, Staff, Students, and the General Public with requests for call transfers, directions to locations on or off campus, and other such tasks.
- Customer service, verbal, writing, and interacting with people skills are a must.
- Use of computerized telephone directories to find telephone numbers that callers request and make connections for calls is needed, so computer experience is a must.
- Other tasks may be assigned to employee by the Manager as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Applicants must be enrolled as a JSU student taking at least three (3) hours per fall or spring semester. (Requirements for international students below. *)
- If not a first-time student, the applicant must have a GPA of 2.00 or higher.
- Selected applicants must provide evidence of student enrollment and GPA (unofficial transcript or printout of enrollment/GPA from MyJSU.
