University Student Assistant - Office of Admissions (Fall 2024 - Summer 2025) Jacksonville (Main Campus)
Admissions Student Workers are responsible for staffing the front desk in the Office of Admissions. Student workers answer incoming calls, assist with packing outgoing mail, answer emails and text messages, make outgoing calls as directed, assist with set-up for campus events, and help with other tasks as needed. A high level of customer service must always be displayed in this position. Positions may be filled based on individual applicants’ skills, qualifications, and departmental needs. Intern, Marketing Services Jacksonville (Main Campus)
The Marketing Intern creates the overall appearance of a wide range of communications products through the use of graphics, typography, content strategy, visual design, and animation to effectively deliver products to the targeted end user. The Marketing Intern develops the overall layout and production design for advertisements, brochures, magazines and reports. The goal of the work of the Marketing Intern is to create meaningful engagement between the university, the programs offered, and internal and external audiences through various mediums. The intern will be evaluated on timely completion of projects, success of communications initiatives, and effective use of university resources.
Administrative Associate Office of Institutional Research & Effectiveness Jacksonville (Main Campus)
The Administrative Associate processes and maintains relatively complex office records, reports, and materials. Performs clerical and secretarial work of greater difficulty and with more independence, but within guidelines established by precedents and departmental policies. Under limited supervision, provides operational coordination, day-to-day administrative support, and project management for the department(s) or operational unit(s). Develops and manages projects to help achieve the mission and goals of the department(s)/unit(s). Serves as the primary point of contact for internal and external constituencies. Oversees the planning of meeting and events. May have department or unit based budgetary responsibilities with oversight from supervisor. Reports to the Assistant Vice Provost of Institutional Research and Effectiveness and is a shared position with the Graduate School.

As a front facing student leader, the Gamecock Guides are expected to uphold university branding standards, both on and off the clock, while being able to confidently illustrate one’s university knowledge. Gamecock Guides may be required to work event days such as Admitted Student Days, Preview Days and undergo mandatory team training. When not administering a tour, the Gamecock Guides will be assisting with daily administrative tasks such as answering calls, emails, and providing excellent customer service practices. The University Student Assistant Campus Parking Enforcement Officer is responsible for the enforcement of University Parking Rules and Regulations. Duties may include the issuing of parking citations to vehicles in violation of University Parking Rules and Regulations, unlocking of car doors and assist motorist upon request, and educating student and visitors to campus of the University Parking Rules and Regulations. Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions, may be assigned to day or evening shifts, serves as a liaison between the public and University departments, assist University Police Officers upon request, and maintains parking enforcement hardware and two-way radio. Custodial Maintenance III (Alternate Shift) Jacksonville (Main Campus)
Custodial Maintenance III in Building Services performs housekeeping duties on the interior and exterior of buildings in addition to carrying or moving heavy equipment or supplies to different areas or buildings on campus. May use pesticides under close supervision and following special instructions on their use and safety. Complex duties may be assigned and a greater degree of independent judgment allowed. Instructions are received orally from supervisor. The Custodial Maintenance III may function as the lead worker with a small group of Custodial Maintenance I employees and Housekeepers.
Assistant Director, Military and Post-Traditional Student Services Jacksonville (Main Campus)
The Assistant Director, Military & Post-Traditional Student Services is responsible for managing the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Enrollment Certification process, all financial accountability functions related to Veteran or Military Educational Benefits, and the VA Work Study program. This position will ensure that the university is in compliance with the rules and regulations imposed by the VA and the State of Alabama. This position will also be responsible for coordinating advising and orientation opportunities for military-connected students on campus.

The Assistant Professor of Computer Information Systems is responsible for facilitating student comprehension and application of concepts, skills, and behaviors that contribute to the development of mature, able, and responsible members of society. HVAC - Lead Technician Jacksonville (Main Campus)
The HVAC Technician Lead performs master level work in the maintenance and repair of refrigeration, heating, and allied equipment. The HVAC Lead Technician services and maintains various refrigeration and air conditioning installations and equipment according to established trade practices. This position serves as the Lead Technician and is responsible for evaluating the skill set and providing hands on instruction to other HVAC technicians ensuring proper techniques and procedures. The HVAC Mechanic III works rotating shifts; special situations or emergencies may necessitate reporting on a scheduled off-day.
University Student Assistant - Assistant Residence Life Coordinator (Summer 2024) Jacksonville (Main Campus)
The University Student Assistant/Assistant Residence Life Coordinator position is a 12 month live-on student staff position with Housing Operations and Residence Life. This position reports directly to the Residence Life Coordinator, Director of Residence Life, or Director of Housing Operations. The responsibilities of this position includes assisting the direct supervisor in community development initiatives, encouraging a positive living environment for residents, special projects, assisting with events such as but not limited to preview day, reporting and filing, move-in, on-call responsibilities, training, the food pantry, supervision of students, residence life activities, programs, and special task. Graduate Research Assistant - Chemistry and Geosciences (Spring 2024) Jacksonville (Main Campus)
The duties for the GRA are to generate waypoint data for recreational waterways for the Alabama Scenic River Trail (ASRT). The individuals will be responsible for identifying GPS data for mile marker points, as well as other points of interest and notable landmarks as determined by ASRT staff. The GRA will work independently for much of the time with weekly reports to JSU and ASRT staff. This position may also require assistance with field data collection and GIS analysis. These duties could include traveling to a field site and working in various weather conditions. Training will be provided. The selected GRA will be expected to work independently with some supervision. Most of the work will be accomplished on a computer capable of running ArcPro. The GRA will be expected to work on average 20 hours per week. Time management skills and self-motivation to complete the task is essential. Funding is for this project for one semester, with an evaluation of effectiveness and reporting to ASRT after this pilot semester. The data collected could be used as part of a thesis or graduate project. Under general direction of the Assistant Controller, the Assistant Director in the Office of Student Accounts functions in the role of the Bursar and is responsible for confidential fiduciary, supervisory, and analytical tasks. The Assistant Director is accountable for the day-to-day operations of the cash handling responsibilities and refund processing, and functions of the Office to include student advisement relating to billing policies, payment options, and any other general concerns a student may have with their financial account. The Assistant Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Office of Student Accounts in the absence of the Assistant Controller of Student Accounts.
Assistant Professor, Physical Geography Jacksonville (Main Campus)
The Department of Chemistry and Geoscience of Jacksonville State University’s College of Arts, Humanities, and Science is seeking to hire a scholar for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. This Assistant Professor will provide educational services for the geography program (housed in the Department of Chemistry and Geosciences) to traditional and non-traditional students during the day or evening. We welcome applicants with specializations in any aspect of Physical Geography. The candidate is expected to have some experience with GIS and other Geo-Spatial Technologies and be able to integrate GIS and technology into their course work.
Graduate Teaching Assistant - Art & Design (Spring 2024) Jacksonville (Main Campus)
A Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) assists faculty by teaching lower-level courses or labs; developing teaching materials; and preparing and grading examinations, papers, or other student work. The GTAs must be assigned to and responsible for teaching a credit bearing course and will be under the supervision of a faculty member experienced in the teaching field. A GTA’s work with students will be closely supervised and must provide opportunities to gain teaching skills and a better grasp of the academic discipline. The supervising faculty member is responsible for overseeing the assignment of all grades to students in the courses. Groundskeeper Lead Jacksonville (Main Campus)
The Groundskeeper Lead performs lawn and grounds work of a semi-skilled nature that will vary with the season. Responsibilities involve physical labor pertaining to maintenance of grounds and installation of shrubs, trees, flowers, and other landscaping flora. Work will be conducted mostly out of doors in all weather conditions. The Groundskeeper Lead knows how to safely operate motorized equipment and hand/power tools. Tasks will be assigned in detail by an immediate supervisor and are subject to frequent inspection.
General Maintenance Jacksonville (Main Campus)
The General Maintenance employee performs skilled work in repairing, renovating, and maintaining University buildings, primarily residence halls and University-owned apartments. General Maintenance duties include electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work. This could be a supervisory position with one or more student workers.
University Student Assistant - jsuRIDE Team Member (Spring 2024) Jacksonville (Main Campus)
As part of the jsuRIDE team, you will play a significant role in helping the campus community succeed each semester. This is a fast-paced role and requires attention to detail. Duties will include picking up students, faculty and staff at their requested time, managing ride requests, providing general appearance checks to the jsuRIDE fleet vehicles and any other duties as assigned.
