Academic Advisor I Jacksonville (Main Campus)
As part of a strategic effort to support undergraduate students, this position will have a holistic role primarily of academic advising with collaboration to support career development and student success. As a primary role academic advisor, this position assists students with course registration, academic strategies and major and minor selection. To support career development, this position incorporates career exploration and development within the academic advising process, connects students to resources for internships and co-ops, and assists students with developing post graduation plans, including career and further education. In support of student success, this position assists high support students with resources to identify learning style preferences and troubleshoot academic problems. This position also monitors academic progress and standing, connects students with resources on campus and in the community, advises on university policies and procedures, provides scaffolding opportunities for students to develop self motivation and self regulation, and ensures persistence and retention. This position works within a collaborative College Advisement Team that includes career development, the employees in this position report to the Senior Advisor for the college in which assigned.

Coordinator, Creative Video Content Jacksonville (Main Campus)
The Coordinator, Creative Video Content will work closely with members of the athletic administration, coaches, marketing, and media relations in developing content that tells the story of Jacksonville State football, student-athletes, and the University. The Student Athlete Development Specialist provides comprehensive general mental health services to student athletes at Jacksonville State University in coordination with Counseling Services, the Student Athlete Development & Support Center and the Athletic Department. Instructional Designer Jacksonville (Main Campus)
Jacksonville State University (JSU) is seeking to hire two (2) Instructional Designers for the Online@JSU department. One Instructional Designer will focus on more general duties of the position, while the other will focus on media. Instructional Designers work with faculty and other associates to design, develop, evaluate, and revise instruction and instructional materials for online and hybrid classes. While all Instructional Designers are expected to have knowledge of various learning platforms, learning delivery methods, learning modalities, learning theories, media platforms, media development techniques, and other elements as listed below, emphasis on certain areas of knowledge, skill, and ability may vary between specific Instructional Designers. Common variables include, but are not limited to, media-related aspects, research and analysis, training development and delivery, and others.
Graduate Teaching Assistant - Biology Department (Fall 2023 - Spring 2024) Jacksonville (Main Campus)
A Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) assists faculty by teaching lower level courses or labs; developing teaching materials; and preparing and grading examinations, papers, or other student work. The GTAs must be assigned to and responsible for teaching a creditbearing course and will be under the supervision of a faculty member experienced in the teaching field. A GTA’s work with students will be closely supervised and must provide opportunities to gain teaching skills and a better grasp of the academic discipline. The supervising faculty member is responsible for overseeing the assignment of all grades to students in the courses. Stipend: $4,000 paid in 4 monthly installments over the course of a fall or spring semester, or paid in 3 monthly installments over the course of a summer semester. Max of 20 hours per week for total of 16 weeks on a monthly pay cycle. In addition to a stipend, graduate assistantships carry a scholarship of 6-9 semester hours of graduate tuition and the general university fee.

University Student Assistant - English Department, Writing Center (Fall 2023 - Spring 2024) Jacksonville (Main Campus)
Writing consultants have the opportunity to hold interactive writing appointments with student writers from all disciplines on various writing projects such as essays, speeches, proposals, multimodal projects, etc. Consultants must understand the structure of topic sentences, thesis statements, paragraphs, and essays along with essay knowledge. Writing consultants should have a good understanding of grammar and mechanics as well. Knowledge in various rhetorical modes and types (e.g. literary reviews, analyses, blogs, websites, presentations, etc…) is beneficial. Consultants will develop key skills such as communication, cooperation, and leadership. Consultants will also have the opportunity to specialize in types of writing and citation styles. Students will complete and submit bi-weekly timesheets.

The Department of Chemistry and GeoSciences of Jacksonville State University’s College of Science & Mathematics is seeking to hire a scholar for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The Assistant Professor of Physics, housed in the Department of Chemistry and Geosciences, and in the College of Science and Mathematics, provides educational services in physics. This individual teaches physics to traditional and non-traditional students during the day or evening. The Assistant Professor may be required to teach introductory and upper-level physics courses on campus, off-campus, and online courses depending on the needs of the department and the location. They will serve as a mentor to students, potentially creating faculty-led research opportunities. The physics program is student-centered. The Department of Chemistry and GeoSciences of Jacksonville State University’s College of Science & Mathematics is seeking to hire a scholar for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The Assistant Professor, in the College of Science and Mathematics, provides educational services for the geography program (housed in the Department of Chemistry and Geosciences) to traditional and non-traditional students during the day or evening. The Assistant Professor may be required to teach human geography, physical geography, and geospatial technology courses on campus, off-campus, and online depending on the needs of the department. This individual will be required to recruit students to the program. They will serve as a mentor to students in the program and create faculty-led research opportunities for students. The geography program is student-centered and working with students is a critical part of the position.
