University Student Assistant - Gamecock Guides (Fall 2026 - Spring 2027)

Position Summary: 

Interested in being a student tour guide? The Gamecock Student Tour Guides administer daily tours to potential students and families, along with university employees and partners! As a front facing student leader, the Gamecock Guides are expected to uphold university branding standards, both on and off the clock, while being able to confidently illustrate one’s university knowledge. Gamecock Guides may be required to work event days such as Admitted Student Days, Preview Days and undergo mandatory team training. When not administering a tour, the Gamecock Guides will be assisting with daily administrative tasks such as answering calls, emails, and providing excellent customer service practices.

This position will be under the direction of the Assistant Director of Campus Visits.

Adheres to all department and University policies and procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Office of Campus Visits with campus tours (individual, group, special)
  • Answer telephones and complete general office duties
  • Participate in campus / recruitment events
  • Responsible for greeting guests, check in for tours
  • Additional duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Applicants must be enrolled as a JSU student taking at least three (3) hours per fall or spring semester. (Requirements for international students below. *)
  • If not a first-time student, the applicant must have a GPA of 2.00 or higher.
  • Selected applicants must provide evidence of student enrollment and GPA (unofficial transcript or printout of enrollment/GPA from MyJSU.

Notice Regarding International Students:

  • All international students must be in a valid immigration status.
  • Due to Visa requirements international students must be enrolled as a full-time JSU student and possess each of the following:
  1. Passport from their respective country.
  2. F-1 Student Visa or J-1 Exchange Student Visa.
  3. U.S. Customs Form I-94.
  4. Official photo identification.
  5. Official Social Security Card imprinted with “Valid for Work Only” or similar statement

Temporary Driver (Non-CDL)

The Temporary Driver is responsible for transporting students, employees, and visitors across campus and offsite locations within designated route(s). This position is responsible for the safe operation of the vehicle, ensuring the safety of the passengers in the vehicle while meeting established transportation schedules.
