Job Summary:

The Substitute Teacher will obtain work experience on campus in the JSU Child Development Center. Duties may include assisting staff with preparation for classroom instruction, departmental operational needs, or performing administrative and other support duties as required. The Substitute Teacher will assist with creating and developing lesson material, games and manipulatives for the preschool class. In addition, the Substitute Teacher will work with individual and small groups of children to develop their emerging pre-reading and pre-math skills, self-help skills and social skills. Positions may be filled based on individual applicants’ skills, qualification and departmental needs. Work hours will take place between 7:15 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. based upon availability of the Substitute Teacher.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Any combination of training and experience equivalent to a high school diploma
  • Experience working with children
  • Good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills in English

Preferred Qualifications:

  • College course work in child growth/development
  • First aid/CPR certification
