Assistant or Associate Professor, Social Work (Macro Practice and Research)
Jacksonville State University’s College of Social and Behavioral Sciences invites applications for a tenure track position for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Social Work.
The Assistant Professor in the Social Work Program will provide high-quality educational experiences for undergraduate and graduate social work students and teach courses primarily in macro-level practice and research. Teaching responsibilities may include day and evening courses delivered in traditional classroom, online, hybrid, livestream, and other instructional formats. The faculty member will contribute to curriculum development and assessment, maintain an active program of scholarship and professional engagement, advise and mentor students, and participate in service activities that support the Social Work Program, University, and profession. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to student success, innovative teaching practices, and the integration of emerging technologies in social work education and practice.
This nine-month tenure track position has an anticipated start date of January 4, 2027.
Candidates must possess:
- Master of Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program
- Minimum of two years of post-MSW practice experience
- Earned doctorate in Social Work or a closely related discipline
- Demonstrated potential for effective teaching, scholarship, and service
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
The preferred candidate will possess:
- Ph.D. or DSW in Social Work
- Prior teaching experience in higher education (including online or hybrid formats)
- Social Work licensure or eligibility for licensure in Alabama
- Experience teaching practice courses at the micro and mezzo levels
- Evidence of integrating innovative or technology-enhanced teaching practices, including AI-supported instruction
- Experience working with diverse and underserved populations
