$8.25 per hour (max. 20 hours per week)

Schedule:

Work hours will take place between 7:15 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. based upon availability of the Student Worker. (Not to exceed 20 hours per week)

Position Summary:

The duties of the JSU Child Development Center (CDC) Federal Work Study Student Worker are to obtain work experience on campus in the CDC. Duties may include assisting staff and faculty with preparation for classroom instruction, departmental operational needs, or performing administrative and other support duties as required. The Student Worker will assist with creating and developing lesson material, games, and manipulatives for the preschool class. In addition, the Student Worker will work with individual and small groups of children to develop their emerging pre-reading and pre-math skills, self-help skills and social skills.

Positions may be filled based on individual applicants’ skills, qualifications, and departmental needs.

**Must be eligible for Federal Work Study. If uncertain of eligibility, please contact the Office of Financial Aid. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assisting Staff and Faculty with classroom instruction and/or departmental operational needs.
  • Performing Administrative tasks and other support duties as required by the department.
  • Assist with creating and developing lesson materials, games, and manipulatives for the preschool class.
  • Work with individual children or children in a group to enhance their pre-reading and math skills as well as social and self-help skills.
  • Additional duties as required by the department

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be enrolled as a Jax State student taking at least six (6) hours per fall or spring semester. (Requirements for international students below. *)
  • If not a first-time student, the applicant must have a GPA of 2.00 or higher.
  • Selected applicants must provide evidence of student enrollment and GPA (unofficial transcript or printout of enrollment/GPA from MyJaxState.
  • Must be eligible for Federal Work Study.
  • May not be a Dual Enrollment Student

Assistant Professor of English (20th Century American Literature)

We invite applications for an Assistant Professor of English in 20th-Century and Contemporary American Literature, a fulltime, tenure-track position to begin August 2027. This faculty member will be responsible for teaching American literature from the beginning of the 20th Century to the contemporary period, according to department practice and policy; conducting scholarly/creative research sufficient for tenure and advancement; and engaging in appropriate service. A Ph.D. in English with a specialization in 20th-Century American Literature by the appointment date is required. The ability to teach composition and evidence of excellent teaching and scholarly potential are also required. Assistant Professor of English, (Rhetoric & Composition Studies)

The Department of English at Jacksonville State University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of English in Rhetoric and Composition Studies with specialty in composition theory and writing pedagogy, a full-time, tenure-track position to begin August 2027. This faculty member will teach introductory to graduate-level rhetoric and composition courses as well as first-year writing, speech, and literature, according to department practice and policy.
