$8.25 per hour (max. 20 hours per week)

Position Summary:

The duties of the Dean School of Business & Industries Federal Work Study Student Aid include assisting staff and faculty with preparation for research, classroom instruction, departmental operational needs, or performing administrative and other support duties as required.

Positions may be filled based on individual applicants’ skills, qualifications, and departmental needs.

**Must be eligible for Federal Work Study. If uncertain of eligibility, please contact the Office of Financial Aid. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist the College of Business & Industry Faculty/Staff.
  • Assist with Administrative and Clerical Duties as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the department.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be enrolled as a Jax State student taking at least six (6) hours per fall or spring semester. (Requirements for international students below. *)
  • If not a first-time student, the applicant must have a GPA of 2.00 or higher.
  • Selected applicants must provide evidence of student enrollment and GPA (unofficial transcript or printout of enrollment/GPA from MyJaxState).
  • Must be eligible for Federal Work Study.
  • May not be a Dual Enrollment Student.

This faculty member will teach introductory to graduate-level rhetoric and composition courses as well as first-year writing, speech, and literature, according to department practice and policy. Preference may be given to candidates with additional experience or expertise in cultural and feminist rhetorics and/or technical and professional communication.

The Department of English at Jacksonville State University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of English with a specialty in Professional Writing, full-time, tenure-track position to begin August 2027. This faculty member will teach courses in the department’s Professional Writing undergraduate programs, our new Doctor of Arts in English program, as well as speech, composition, and other courses as needed, according to department practice and policy. Of particular interest are specialties in digital writing, user experience/user interface, writing for social media, podcasting, technical or business writing, and/or writing for AI. Preference may be given to candidates with additional experience or expertise in game studies or digital humanities.
