Position Summary:

Manages film equipment inventory, checkout procedures, and maintenance to ensure production readiness.

**Must be eligible for Federal Work Study. If uncertain of eligibility, please contact the Office of Financial Aid. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain equipment inventory system
  • Oversee check-out and return process
  • Inspect and test equipment regularly
  • Report damaged or missing items 
  • Assist with additional theatre production and facility tasks as assigned by the Technical Director after primary weekly responsibilities have been completed.

  • Equipment condition report
  • List of repair or replacement needs
  • Departmental and University policies regarding equipment use
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
  • Attention to detail when inspecting equipment
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Ability to follow procedures and enforce checkout policies
  • Time-management skills to support multiple productions
  • Maintain accurate equipment inventory records
  • Oversee equipment check-out and return processes
  • Test, inspect, and report equipment condition
  • Identify damaged, missing, or malfunctioning items
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and student filmmakers

Machines & Equipment:

  • Cameras, tripods, lighting, and audio equipment
  • Film equipment storage systems and cases
  • Standard office equipment (computer, printer)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of:
  • Film and media equipment terminology and functions
  • Safe handling, storage, and transport of film equipment
  • Inventory tracking and checkout procedures
  • Basic troubleshooting and equipment care
  • Prior experience with film or media equipment
  • Familiarity with camera, audio, or lighting gear
  • Experience with inventory or equipment checkout systems
  • Applicants must be enrolled as a JSU student taking at least six (6) hours per fall or spring semester. (Requirements for international students below. *)
  • If not a first-time student, the applicant must have a GPA of 2.00 or higher.
  • Selected applicants must provide evidence of student enrollment and GPA (unofficial transcript or printout of enrollment/GPA from MyJaxState.
  • Must be eligible for Federal Work Study.
  • May not be a Dual Enrollment Student.
