Federal Work Study - Theatre & Film - House Manager (Fall 2026 - Spring 2027)

Position Summary:
Oversees front-of-house operations and ensures a professional, safe, and welcoming audience experience during theatre productions and events.
**Must be eligible for Federal Work Study. If uncertain of eligibility, please contact the Office of Financial Aid.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Front-of-house theatre operations and audience services
- Theatre etiquette, accessibility, and customer service practices
- Emergency procedures and audience safety protocols
- Basic ticketing and seating procedures
- University and department policies related to events
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Leadership and team coordination abilities
- Organization and time-management skills
- Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
- Attention to detail in preparing public-facing spaces
- Coordinate ushers and manage audience flow efficiently
- Prepare and monitor lobby and house areas before and during performances
- Address audience concerns in a calm and professional manner
- Enforce theatre policies during events
- Work evenings and weekends as required by performance schedules
- Coordinate ushers and manage audience flow
- Prepare lobby and house for performances
- Manage ticketing coordination, if applicable
- Handle audience concerns during events
- Assist with additional theatre production and facility tasks as assigned by the Technical Director after primary weekly responsibilities have been completed.
- Weekly Deliverables
- Performance or event report including attendance, issues, and notes
- Front-of-house checklist completion
- Usher schedule or coordination log
- Audience feedback summary, if applicable
Required Qualifications:
- Reliable availability during scheduled performances and events
- Professional demeanor and strong customer service orientation
Minimum Qualifications:
- Prior customer service or ushering experience
- Previous theatre or event management exposure
- Leadership or supervisory experience in a team setting
- Applicants must be enrolled as a JSU student taking at least six (6) hours per fall or spring semester. (Requirements for international students below. *)
- If not a first-time student, the applicant must have a GPA of 2.00 or higher.
- Selected applicants must provide evidence of student enrollment and GPA (unofficial transcript or printout of enrollment/GPA from MyJaxState.
- Must be eligible for Federal Work Study.
- May not be a Dual Enrollment Student.
