Normal Work Schedule:

Monday - Thursday, 5:00 p.m. - 1:30 a.m. and Friday 4:30 p.m. - 12:30 a.m.

Job Summary:

The Housekeeper II in Building Services performs routine cleaning of interior spaces and the immediate exterior area. Work assignments are primarily indoors and under close supervision.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Sweeps, dusts, mops, vacuums, waxes and polishes floors in hallways, classrooms, residence halls and offices.
  • Dusts and polishes office furniture, desks, windows, blinds, and door facings.
  • Cleans/scrubs toilets, sinks, shower stalls and bath tubs in residence halls and office buildings.
  • Lifts and carries brooms, mops, pails, buckets, brushes, and supplies from janitor’s closet to specified area(s).
  • Carries garbage and trash bags to garbage receptacles.
  • Moves and replaces students’ desks and chairs, instructors’ podiums and desks, and classroom equipment in order to mop or wax floor.
  • Mops, sweeps, or scrubs exterior porches of buildings; picks up trash around outside of buildings.
  • Inspects floors, baseboards, windows, office, or residence hall furnishings to determine cleanliness.
  • Reads work crew schedules, instruction labels on cleaning products, and Materials Safety Data Sheets to determine safe handling of cleaning products.
  • Receives oral instructions from supervisor on specials tasks to be performed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Some experience in housekeeping.

Public Safety Support

The Public Safety Support position is a non-sworn position responsible for enforcing university parking rules and regulations, maintaining public safety equipment operated by the Department of Public Safety, and providing additional logistical, safety and security responsibilities as called upon. Work includes the protection of life and property through the enforcing of university regulations and all aspects of the parking system.  Support includes manual and clerical tasks to assist the unit supervisor, coordination and mentor part-time student officers, traffic direction and control, as well as logistical operations to support the University's Division of Health and Public Safety.  Limited protective work in the guarding and securing of buildings, grounds, and facilities against loss or damage; monitoring and inspecting buildings and grounds for safety and security procedure, regulations, and enforcement will be required. This position will assist other university police and public safety officers upon request.  Work will involve the use of independent judgement in responding to emergencies, transporting and using support equipment, as well as working in storm shelters during weather emergencies. Work is frequently performed outdoors in all weather conditions. Employee will generally work day shifts, but may be assigned an evening shift during special events and special sporting events, or may be called to work odd hours for special events or activities on campus. Work is performed under general supervision of the Public Safety Services Supervisor and in accordance with established routine and guidelines checked by personal inspections, review of reports, and discussions with the unit supervisor.
