$38,750.40 - $40,227.20 commensurate with experience

Normal Work Schedule:

7:30am-4:30 Monday-Friday, Call maybe required

Job Summary:

The Locksmith III provides master-level and supervisory level skills in the repair, resetting and installation of locking devices and the manufacture of keys. Requires frequent contact with other employees in the delivery of keys, locks, repairs, doors, hardware or broken glass. Works individually and is self-sufficient. The employee in this class may function as the lead workers and will review work of subordinate employees. Responsible for the supervision of activities relating to lock, key services, records, and proper security of University buildings.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meets with hardware architect to go over hardware schedule for new and renovated buildings.
  • Assists with the Installation of new locks and issuance of keys.
  • Prepares materials and equipment requisitions.
  • Repairs locks, doors, and door closures in University buildings; replaces locks.
  • Inspects work of locksmiths and contactors.
  • Makes keys, and records individual to whom the key was released.
  • Opens locks for which there are no keys or existing combinations.
  • Reviews and recommends expenditures.
  • Trains employees in basic and advanced locksmith skills.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, and
  • Five (5) years’ experience as a locksmith working with a variety of types of hardware required
    Preferred Qualifications:
  • experience supervising others in locksmith work
