University Student Assistant - Parking Services Office Assistant (Fall 2025 - Spring 2026)

$8.25 per hour (Max 26 hours per week)

Position Summary: 

The duties of the University Student Parking Services Office Assistant are to facilitate smooth Parking Office operations assisting Parking Services Supervisor with various business and record keeping tasks while handling the customer service needs of the office environment.

Positions may be filled based on individual applicants’ skills, qualifications, and departmental needs.

Adheres to all department and University policies and procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist Parking Services Supervisor with various business and record keeping tasks.
  • Provide Customer Service to the front office.
  • Departmental Operations.
  • Administrative Operations.
  • Additional tasks as required by the department.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Applicants must be enrolled as a JSU student taking at least three (3) hours per fall or spring semester. (Requirements for international students below. *)
  • If not a first-time student, the applicant must have a GPA of 2.00 or higher.
  • Selected applicants must provide evidence of student enrollment and GPA (unofficial transcript or printout of enrollment/GPA from MyJSU.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Access databases.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in an office environment that can be very busy.
  • Self-motivated.

Quality Specialist, Metrologist

The Quality Specialist is a key technical position supporting the federally funded expansion of the Additive Manufacturing Training and Innovation Laboratory. Working under the direction of the Principal Investigator/Program Manager, the incumbent plays a central role in transitioning newly acquired systems from installation and commissioning to routine laboratory operation. The position supports industry engagement, workforce development, and student learning within an applied manufacturing environment by applying extensive hands-on experience in manufacturing quality and inspection. The Quality Specialist translates real-world manufacturing requirements into effective measurement, inspection, verification, and process control workflows, ensuring laboratory operations align with industry standards, support advanced manufacturing initiatives, and promote high-quality training and operational outcomes.The position will work with the Dean of the CEPS, Department Heads and Directors to identify fundraising priorities and develop a plan to execute those objectives. This is a full-time, five-year, grant-funded position dependent upon funding availability.

Assistant Professor of English (20th Century American Literature)

We invite applications for an Assistant Professor of English in 20th-Century and Contemporary American Literature, a fulltime, tenure-track position to begin August 2027. This faculty member will be responsible for teaching American literature from the beginning of the 20th Century to the contemporary period, according to department practice and policy; conducting scholarly/creative research sufficient for tenure and advancement; and engaging in appropriate service. A Ph.D. in English with a specialization in 20th-Century American Literature by the appointment date is required. The ability to teach composition and evidence of excellent teaching and scholarly potential are also required. Preference may be given to candidates with a subspecialty in Native American, Asian American, Latinx, and/or other minority literature(s).
