Department:
Randy Owen Center for the Performing Arts

Salary:
$250.00 per event (proposed lump sum; HR to confirm payroll and timekeeping requirements; maximum 26 hours per week).

Position Summary:
Experienced student musicians provide accompaniment for select Randy Owen Center performances and productions. This is an event-based position. The posting will remain available August 1, 2026–July 31, 2027. Students apply to be considered for individual events; selection for one event does not guarantee future assignments. Scheduling depends on event needs and availability. Evening and weekend work may be required. Adheres to all department and University policies and procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Review and prepare provided musical materials before rehearsals and performances.
• Attend and accompany required music rehearsals and performances.
• Perform from provided musical scores and books.
• Follow the Music Director’s instructions and collaborate with visiting and campus Music Directors, performers, and casts.
• Maintain musical integrity and demonstrate preparation, reliability, and professionalism.
• Attend required scheduling meetings and perform other related musical duties as assigned.

Employment and Scheduling:

This is an event-based student employment opportunity. Work assignments will vary based on the ROC's performance and event calendar. Students must be available to work assigned event hours, which may include evenings, weekends and extended hours for event setup and teardown. Students may be scheduled for multiple events based on availability, qualifications, and operational needs. Employment is not guaranteed for every event. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

• Applicants must be enrolled as a JSU student taking at least three (3) hours per fall or spring semester. (Requirements for international students below. *)
• If not a first-time student, the applicant must have a GPA of 2.00 or higher.
• Selected applicants must provide evidence of student enrollment and GPA (unofficial transcript or printout of enrollment/GPA from MyJSU.
