    The Department of Theatre and Film at Jacksonville State University invites applications for a full-time position as Technical Director beginning August 2026. The Theatre & Film Technical Director coordinates all scenic activities (scenery construction, painting, and props) for departmental productions, including supervision and operation of lighting and sound systems and provides technical assistance for related activities. This position supervises and instructs student workers, student theatre classes, and volunteer workers for departmental productions; maintains shop, lighting, and sound equipment; maintains inventory of required supplies, supervises students/crews in the production and running of departmental productions and ensures the physical space is maintained, and ensures safe, timely setup and smooth running of department productions.

The Call Center Assistant will be available to assist students and parents in completing the FAFSA in the student computer lab. This position will report to the Call Center Supervisor.

    University Student Assistant - Safety Ambassador (Spring 2026) in Jacksonville, AL (Main Campus)

    The University Department of Public Safety’s mission is to provide professional, proactive, and community-oriented service and protection, through prevention of crimes and other hazards, enforcement of the law, and safeguarding the constitutional guarantees of all within the campus community. The University Student Assistant, while on duty, within their assigned campus residential areas, these uniformed safety ambassadors will be responsible for: • Conduct basic foot and scooter patrols in areas of Housing. • Build positive relationships within residential community life. • Proactively address potential safety issues (DPS Operational Plan, 2023, Goal 2). • Conduct lighting, door, fire extinguisher, automated external defibrillator checks, and monitor security cameras. • Engage with members of the campus community to provide transportation directions, information about the Cocky Watch Program. • Serve as a liaison from residents to police in addressing public safety concerns. • Provide escorts at night, assist motorists, work events with large crowds, and conduct traffic control. • Support first responders on calls for service. • Additional duties as required by the department. Positions may be filled based on individual applicants’ skills, qualifications, and departmental needs. Adheres to all department and University policies and procedures.

    University Student Assistant - SSC 2nd Floor Front Desk Assistant (Fall 2026 - Spring 2027) in Jacksonville, AL (Main Campus)

    The duties of a front desk assistant in the Student Success Center (SSC) are to provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, and staff, direct students to the appropriate tutor or staff member in the SSC, ensure that students are checked in/out of JSU Navigate, and to assist with monitoring the SSC 2nd floor. Front desk assistants must have strong communication skills and should be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Understanding and compliance of FERPA is mandatory. Front desk assistants must be available for all mandatory training sessions, meetings, and workshops. They must be flexible and available to work outside of their class schedules, they must be dependable, and they must be punctual for their shifts. All SSC front desk assistants are expected to work well with their peers in an academic environment, and they must be willing to work with a diverse population. Knowledge of the SSC, academic support, tutoring, student resources, and other campus service departments is expected. Positions may be filled based on individual applicants’ skills, qualifications, and departmental needs. Adheres to all department and University policies and procedures.
