University Student Assistant - Safety Ambassador (2025) in Jacksonville, AL (Main Campus)
The University Department of Public Safety’s mission is to provide professional, proactive, and community-oriented service and protection, through prevention of crimes and other hazards, enforcement of the law, and safeguarding the constitutional guarantees of all within the campus community. The University Student Assistant, while on duty, within their assigned campus residential areas, these uniformed safety ambassadors will be responsible for: • Conduct basic foot and scooter patrols in areas of Housing. • Build positive relationships within residential community life. • Proactively address potential safety issues (DPS Operational Plan, 2023, Goal 2). • Conduct lighting, door, fire extinguisher, automated external defibrillator checks, and monitor security cameras. • Engage with members of the campus community to provide transportation directions, information about the Cocky Watch Program. • Serve as a liaison from residents to police in addressing public safety concerns. • Provide escorts at night, assist motorists, work events with large crowds, and conduct traffic control. • Support first responders on calls for service. • Additional duties as required by the department. Positions may be filled based on individual applicants’ skills, qualifications, and departmental needs. Adheres to all department and University policies and procedures.
