University Student Assistant - SSC Peer Tutor - Tutoring Services (Fall 2024 - Spring 2025) in Jacksonville (Main Campus)
Provides tutoring to individuals and small groups in the Student Success Center (SSC) located in the Houston Cole Library, 2nd floor. The SSC tutoring program is CRLA (College Reading and Learning Association) certified. If hired, students are expected to complete 10 hours of training. This position assists students in improving academic achievement, supports students by reviewing and clarifying learning problems, and provides useful study skills to students who need supplemental help. Additionally, peer tutors provide subject-area knowledge and serve as a model for students in the techniques, strategies, attitudes, and beliefs that successful learners employ as they acquire new knowledge, solve problems, and complete academic tasks. Tutors may also provide drop-in tutoring assistance to students based on requests for academic assistance. Tutors must possess knowledge of subject area material beyond a basic level; have excellent communication skills; the ability to provide an active learning experience for students by explaining difficult concepts and providing examples for explorations. Other assistance might include reviewing class material and discussing the text and course content. Positions may be filled based on individual applicants’ skills, qualifications, and departmental needs. Adheres to all department and University policies and procedures.

Lead Learning Specialist in Jacksonville (Main Campus)
As part of a holistic strategic effort to support at-risk student athletes, this position provides individualized student support programming efforts that centers around learning strategies and academic skills. The Lead Learning Specialist functions to ensure assigned students understand assignments in their courses, help them to develop an organizational system that will facilitate success in their courses, assists students in areas where there are some cognitive deficiencies, and helps coordinate with assigned academic counselors, tutors, and other Student Athlete Academic Support Team members to guarantee at-risk student athletes receive proper academic assistance.

Federal Work Study - Learning Resource Center (Summer 2024) in Jacksonville (CEPS Complex)
The duties of the Federal Student Worker are to obtain work experience on campus, in local P-12 schools, and via online virtual platforms. Duties may include assisting staff and faculty with preparation for Prek-6th grade reading activities, tutoring local PreK-6th grade students in the area of reading instruction, and other support duties as required. The Federal Student Worker will assist with creating and developing lesson material, games, and manipulatives for tutoring sessions. In addition, the Federal Student Worker will work with individuals and small groups of Prek-6th graders to assist in increasing student achievement in reading. Tutors will attend mandatory training sessions and required workshops, be flexible and available to work outside of their class schedules, must be dependable and punctual for scheduled appointments, complete tutorial reports in a timely manner, and work well with Pre-k-6th grade students in the area of reading instruction. Additionally, tutors must be willing to work with a diverse student population. Positions may be filled based on individual applicants’ skills, qualifications, and departmental needs. **Must be eligible for Federal Work Study.
