Assistant Professor of English, Early American Literature
We invite applications for an Assistant Professor of English in Early American Literature, a fulltime,
tenure-track position to begin August 2022. This faculty member will be responsible for
teaching American literature from its beginnings to approximately 1865, speech, composition,
and literature, according to department practice and policy; conducting scholarly/creative
research sufficient for tenure and advancement; and engaging in appropriate service. A Ph.D. in
English with a specialization in Early American Literature by the appointment date is required.
The ability to teach composition and evidence of excellent teaching and scholarly potential are
also required. Preference may be given to candidates with a subspecialty in film studies and/or
Native American, Asian American, Latinx, and/or other minority literature(s). The salary is
contingent upon qualifications, experience, and needs of the university.
