Job Summary
The Department of Secondary Education needs adjunct instructors to fill a variety of roles. We need adjuncts to teach, online, hybrid, and on-campus. We also need adjuncts to serve as university supervisors for teacher candidates completing field experiences (practicum and internship).
Adjuncts applying for the position of university supervisor must be able to work during the day and travel to schools.

Academically Jax State offers 101 academic programs and concentrations, including bachelor's, master's, post-baccalaureate, doctoral and advanced certificate programs in a variety of disciplines that prepare graduates for meaningful careers and ongoing education. More than 40 online programs are offered. Department Information
The mission of the Department of Secondary Education is to train world-class teachers who can step into any middle or high school classroom ready to teach. We offer three types of degrees in our department: undergraduate, traditional master’s, and Alternative-A master’s. Each of these degrees is available in one of the following content areas: English Language Arts, General Science, Mathematics, and Social Studies. Our dedicated faculty have the experience and training to ensure that our students today become the teachers of tomorrow.
Required Qualifications
- A Master’s degree (or higher) in teaching or teaching related field in Secondary Education. This may be in secondary education or administration.
- Recent experience in middle or high schools. Individuals serving as administration in grades K-6 are qualified if their teaching experience was in middle or high school.
- Proficiency in the use of basic instructional technology including Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, and other common instructional and education management systems.
- Knowledge of State and Federal laws and regulations concerning Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Section 504, IDEA 1997 amendments, and the ADA for transition and employment.
- Excellent interpersonal and human relations skills, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills.
