Instructor, Applied Engineering

Jacksonville State University’s College of Business and Industry invites applications for a non-tenure track position for an Instructor of Applied Engineering.

The Instructor in the Department of Applied Engineering provides educational services to traditional and non-traditional students during the day or evening. The instructor will teach primarily in-person, undergraduate-level foundation courses (Manufacturing Fundamentals and Computer-Aided Design). The candidate will be required to teach courses within his/her concentration area on campus and online.

The mission of the Department of Applied Engineering is to educate an undergraduate and graduate student body for successful careers in a dynamically changing global environment. Our programs are designed for those with an orientation towards the application of engineering and management concepts to solving complex real-world problems. The Department seeks to develop and maintain strong connections to industries in Northeast Alabama, for the mutual benefit of enhanced economic vitality to this region.

This nine-month, non-tenure track position has an anticipated start date of August 1, 2025.

Candidates must possess:

  • Master’s degree in Industrial Technology, Engineering, Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or closely related field, including 18+ hours graduate credits in the discipline
  • Applicable industrial experience in a relevant field

The preferred candidate will possess:

  • PhD or ABD in a relevant field.
  • Evidence of experience teaching at the undergraduate level
  • Experience in academic accreditation process,
  • Experience in supervising student organizations.
