Job Summary

The Department of Music at Jacksonville State University (Jax State) invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor of Tuba/Euphonium to join our dynamic faculty. This position is part-time, beginning in the upcoming academic term, and is focused on providing high-quality instruction to undergraduate music majors and non-majors.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Teach applied lessons for undergraduate tuba and euphonium students (music majors and non-majors).
• Prepare students for juries, recitals, and ensemble auditions.
• Collaborate with the music faculty to support the overall brass program and student success.
• Attend departmental meetings and events as requested.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to students in both performance and career development.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Music (MM) required or 18 graduate credit hours
• Evidence of successful teaching experience at the collegiate or secondary level.
• Demonstrated professional performance experience as a tuba and/or euphonium artist.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching diverse student populations and applied studio settings.
• Ability to coach chamber ensembles or low brass sections as needed.
• Familiarity with current trends in brass pedagogy and performance.
