Job Summary
The Department of Music at Jacksonville State University (Jax State) invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor of Tuba/Euphonium to join our dynamic faculty. This position is part-time, beginning in the upcoming academic term, and is focused on providing high-quality instruction to undergraduate music majors and non-majors.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Teach applied lessons for undergraduate tuba and euphonium students (music majors and non-majors).
- Prepare students for juries, recitals, and ensemble auditions.
- Collaborate with the music faculty to support the overall brass program and student success.
- Attend departmental meetings and events as requested.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to students in both performance and career development.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Music (MM) required or 18 graduate credit hours
- Evidence of successful teaching experience at the collegiate or secondary level.
- Demonstrated professional performance experience as a tuba and/or euphonium artist.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching diverse student populations and applied studio settings.
- Ability to coach chamber ensembles or low brass sections as needed.
- Familiarity with current trends in brass pedagogy and performance.
