The Communication Department of Jacksonville State University’s College of Business and Industry seeks an adjunct faculty member to teach undergraduate level courses. Candidate must have a minimum of a master’s degree in a field appropriate to the discipline with at least 18 hours completed in Communication and/or extensive work experience in the discipline in which they are applying to teach. The department offers courses in Digital Journalism, Digital Media Production and Public Relations and Advertising.

As part of the jsuRIDE team, you will play a significant role in helping the campus community succeed each semester. This is a fast-paced role and requires attention to detail. University Student Assistant - Academic Support & Success Peer Learning Coach (PLC) - (Fall 2025 - Spring 2026) Jacksonville, AL (Main Campus)
The Peer Learning Coach (PLC) performs duties and responsibilities under the general direction of the Tutor Coordinator in the Academic Support and Success Center. The Peer Learning Coach is a trained student leader who provides personalized individual and group coaching to help fellow students develop essential academic skills. This position will work independently and in team settings to promote academic success, student engagement, personal development, and meaningful connections with Jax State Students, Faculty, Staff, and resources. • Provide individual and group coaching with undergraduate students who seek to improve their academic journey. • Help students develop and improve skills such as time management, study strategies, organization, and goal setting, etc. • Participate in initial and ongoing training sessions. • Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and academic responsibility. • Help students connect with campus resources. • Engage in proactive outreach and provide ongoing case management. • Maintain accurate and confidential coaching records and submit timely session reports. • Represent and support logistics of the Academic Support and Success Center for initiatives including, but not limited to, Student Learning Orientations, Welcome Week, classroom visits, etc. Positions may be filled based on individual applicants’ skills, qualifications, and departmental needs.
