Assistant Professor of English, 20th Century American Literature

Position Description

We invite applications for an Assistant Professor of English in 20th-Century and Contemporary American Literature, a fulltime, tenure-track position to begin August 2027. This faculty member will be responsible for teaching American literature from the beginning of the 20th Century to the contemporary period, according to department practice and policy; conducting scholarly/creative research sufficient for tenure and advancement; and engaging in appropriate service. A Ph.D. in English with a specialization in 20th-Century American Literature by the appointment date is required. The ability to teach composition and evidence of excellent teaching and scholarly potential are also required. Preference may be given to candidates with a subspecialty in Native American, Asian American, Latinx, and/or other minority literature(s).

The salary is contingent upon qualifications, experience, and needs of the University.

Of particular interest are specialties in digital writing, user experience/user interface, writing for social media, podcasting, technical or business writing, and/or writing for AI. Preference may be given to candidates with additional experience or expertise in game studies or digital humanities.

Instructor, Applied Engineering

The Department of Applied Engineering at Jacksonville State University invites applications for a dynamic and versatile full-time Instructor of Applied Engineering. The primary focus of this position is to support the Department's instructional mission by teaching a broad range of introductory, core, laboratory, and elective courses across Applied Engineering programs based on departmental needs and the candidate's qualifications. In addition, the Department is interested in a candidate who can contribute to its efforts to introduce and appropriately integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI), and other emerging technologies into Applied Engineering education to help prepare students for evolving industry needs.
