Job Summary:

The employee in this position assists the Assistant Director, Athletics – Compliance with the day-to-day operation of a comprehensive compliance program to ensure compliance with institutional, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations governing the intercollegiate athletics operations. Primary focus for the coordinator is on student-athlete eligibility, recruitment, financial aid, and education. Work is performed under general supervision. Evaluation is based on completion of assignments and results obtained.

Employment in this position is contingent upon compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA and Conference affiliation.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in administering the NCAA Compliance Assist software program.
  • Compiles necessary documentation for all student-athletes on an annual basis, or as needed.
  • Organizes and conducts student-athlete orientation; reviews NCAA rules.
  • Provides regular compliance-related educational information and rule interpretation to coaches, athletic staff, student-athletes, key University personnel and external constituents.
  • Monitors recruiting logs, playing and practice season logs, coaches phone logs, official visits, and complimentary ticket process.
  • Oversees camps and clinics.
  • Assists in the data collection and submission of required reports to the NCAA.
  • Organizes and conducts textbook distribution and return for student-athletes and student support personnel.
  • Develops and maintains the student-athlete handbook.
  • Builds and maintains a working relationship with other staff members in departments across campus to promote student-athlete success.
  • Coordinates the administration of athletic scholarships with Student Financial Services. Produces and distributes financial grant-in-aid documents.
  • Coordinates the review of transcripts and eligibility requirements for prospective and current student-athletes.
  • Coordinates housing arrangements and meal plans for student-athletes.
  • Serves as a liaison with the NCAA Initial-Eligibility Center. Prepares and submits institutional request lists for students requiring certification through the center. Prepares, submits, and maintains institutional request lists for students requiring certification by the Eligibility Center.
  • Aids in managing issues related to prospective student-athlete eligibility and amateur status.
  • Assists in monitoring the recruiting activities of coaching staffs - i.e. official paid visits provided by the institution to prospective student athletes - to ensure NCAA compliance.
  • Helps investigate and document potential violations of NCAA and conference rules. Processes rules violations with the appropriate organization.
  • Attends conference and national compliance conferences.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, and
  • at least one year of full time equivalent experience in NCAA compliance, law, higher education administration, or coaching
