The successful candidate will support the acclaimed Marching Southerners by recruiting prospective music majors and other students to the university through activities such as high school visits, clinics, and workshops. This role also involves conducting the Symphonic Band, one of three concert bands offered in the department, and the Pep Band (Hardcorps). In addition, the successful candidate will teach conducting at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The ability to form strong community ties and maintain a strong relationship with the athletic department would also be essential. The David L Walters Department of Music offers undergraduate programs of study in Music Education, Music Industry, Music Performance, and General Music. In addition, the department offers graduate programs in General Music and Music Education.
