Essential Functions:

The Assistant Residence Life Coordinator (ARLC) position is a 12 month live on student staff position with the Office of Residence Life. The ARLC reports directly to the Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) and is considered a member of the leadership team for his/her particular residential community.

The primary responsibilities of the ARLC include assisting the RLC in community development initiatives, encouraging a positive living environment for residents, offering advisement for in-hall programming efforts, and supervising student Resident Assistant (RA) and Desk Assistant (DA) staff within the residence hall. He/She will assist in the administration of all residence life activities, programs, and events.

The ARLCs are graduate students who assist in the administration and direction of all activities associated with the operation of the residence halls/apartments. The ARLC assumes the responsibility for the halls/apartments in the absence of the RLC. The ARLC is the primary supervisor for all Lead Night Desk Assistants (LNDA), DAs, and Night Desk Assistants (NDA).

Minimum Qualifications:

·         Enrolled as a JSU student taking at least three (3) hours per fall or spring semester

·         Applicants must attach under “Transcript” an unofficial copy of their student transcript or class registration as evidence of student enrollment and GPA.

·         Due to Visa requirements international students must be enrolled as a full-time JSU student and possess each of the following:

c.       U.S. Customs Form I-94.

d.      Official photo identification.

e.       Official Social Security Card imprinted with “Valid for Work Only” or similar statement.

·         Demonstrate evidence of leadership and managerial skills.

·         Demonstrate the ability to develop and implement residence hall developmental programming.

·         Show strong administrative skills.

·         Demonstrate the ability to interact and work well with staff and students of diverse backgrounds.

·         Demonstrate the ability to work with student groups and committees.

·         Exemplify personal integrity and professional behaviors in all areas.
