Essential Functions:

The duties of the University Student Aid is to obtain work experience on campus in offices, labs, gym, the library, and other areas. Duties may include assisting staff and faculty with preparation for research, classroom instruction, departmental operational needs, or performing administrative and other support duties as required. Positions may be filled based on individual applicants’ skills, qualification and departmental needs.

Assists Program Director in management of WLJS-FM; helps train and supervise volunteer announcers; helps maintain radio schedules and logs; monitors programming to assure compliance with FCC and university regulations; maintains radio station's website and social media.

  1. Supports clerical and administrative staff on assigned tasks, which may include typing, filing, scanning documents, answering the phone, greeting visitors, etc.
  2. Receives assignments orally or in writing.
  3. Reads documents written in English.
  4. Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Speaks and listens to others, both in person and over the telephone, and speaks to groups.
  2. Reads documents written in English.
  3. Uses a computer keyboard and monitor.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Ability to communicate effectively (written and oral) in English.
  2. Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with a diverse body of faculty, staff and students.
  3. Possesses relevant academic, computer and administrative skills for the position.
  4. Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Applicants must be enrolled as a JSU student taking at least three (3) hours per fall or spring semester.
  2. If not a first time student, applicant must have a GPA of 2.00 or higher.
  3. Applicants must attach under "Transcript" an unofficial copy of their student transcript as evident of student enrollment and GPA.
  4. Must be a JSU student in good standing.
  5. Must be a sophomore, junior, or senior status.
  6. Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5.
  7. Must have successfully completed COM 200, 205, and 302 (or currently enrolled in) with a "C" or higher grade.

*Notice Regarding International Students:

Due to Visa requirements international students must be enrolled as a full-time student taking a least 12 hours (per fall or spring semester) and possess each of the following;

    1. Passport from their respective country.
    2. F-1 Student visa orJ-1 Exchange Student Visa.
    3. U.S. Customs Form I-94.
    4. Official photo identification.
    5. Official Social Security Card imprinted with "Valid for Work Only" or similar statement.
