Visiting Assistant Professor, Art & Design Jacksonville (Main Campus)

The Department of Communication invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Communication, specializing in news broadcast production and broadcast journalism. This tenure-track position includes a 3:4 or 4:3 teaching load and 9 months of full-time service. Further, the position is for teaching undergraduate media production courses and requires teaching competencies in broadcast journalism, broadcast news studio production, multimedia production of news, and proficiency with contemporary media business models. We balance hands-on skills with an integrated approach to broadcast production in journalism and other forms of content creation. Special consideration will be given to those who can teach creative and experiential courses in broadcast news and media production. The ideal candidate’s research agenda should align well and inform the instructional focus in the program.

The Heating/Air Conditioning Mechanic III performs master level work in the maintenance and repair of refrigeration, heating, and allied equipment. The Mechanic III services and maintains various refrigeration and air conditioning installations and equipment according to established trade practices and under the direction of the HVAC Supervisor. Tasks are reviewed for compliance with instructions and adequate completion. The HVAC Mechanic III works rotating shifts; special situations or emergencies may necessitate reporting on a scheduled off-day.

University Student Assistant - Safety Ambassador (Fall 2024) Jacksonville (Main Campus)
The University Department of Public Safety’s mission is to provide professional, proactive, and community-oriented service and protection, through prevention of crimes and other hazards, enforcement of the law, and safeguarding the constitutional guarantees of all within the campus community. The University Student Assistant while on duty, within their assigned campus residential areas, these uniformed safety ambassadors will be responsible for: • Conduct basic foot and scooter patrols in areas of Housing. • Build positive relationships within residential community life. • Proactively address potential safety issues (DPS Operational Plan, 2023, Goal 2). • Conduct lighting, door, fire extinguisher, automated external defibrillator checks, and monitor security cameras. • Engage with members of the campus community to provide transportation directions, information about the Cocky Watch Program. • Serve as a liaison from residents to police in addressing public safety concerns. • Provide escorts at night, assist motorists, work events with large crowds, and conduct traffic control. • Support first responders on calls for service. • Additional duties as required by the department. Electrician III Jacksonville (Main Campus)
The Electrician III in Capital Planning and Facilities performs skilled installation and electrical maintenance work on the master level in accordance with standard practices of the trade. Assignments are received orally or in writing and may be accompanied by penciled sketches or plans. The Electrician III works independently in carrying the duties through to completion, although a maintenance supervisor may check the work while in process. Completed assignments are tested for operation. Supervision of others may be involved.
University Student Assistant - Art & Design Lab Monitor (Fall 2024 - Spring 2025) Jacksonville (Main Campus)
The Art and Design Lab Monitor University Student Aid must be able to work nights and weekends to keep the lab opened and machines up and running in the Graphic Design Studios as well as in the Photo Labs. Materials Handlers II may be the lead worker or supervisor over Materials Handlers I or student employees. Tasks will be reviewed while in progress and upon completion for compliance to instructions and policy.
