Job Summary:

The Social Media Content Manager is primarily responsible for serving as the university’s champion for online content and social media strategy. Through this role, the Social Media Content Manager oversees the institution's official social media content and provides for creative content for social media and web that supports the university’s marketing plan. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the university’s social media expert, research, plans, implements and evaluates the university’s social media strategic plan. 
  • Integrates social media with the university's web presence to create one cohesive unit that supports the university’s marketing plan.
  • Coordinates internal and external digital advertising campaigns.
  • Develops digital marketing strategies to support the University’s branding efforts for various stakeholders. 
  • Manages the digital communications products designed to promote the University’s brand and support the University’s initiatives, schools, departments, and programs. 
  • Benchmark peer institutions for best practices and the latest trends in social media and digital marketing. 
  • Stays current on the latest social media and digital platforms and tools to determine their viability for the university. 
  • Monitors best practices in the industry and proposes new content and functions related to best practices and user analysis.
  • Builds mutually beneficial relationships between the university and the public it serves by establishing creative and positive digital content for social media platforms and the JSU website. 
  • Advises departments and units on how to best establish a digital media presence, while also regulating the creation of social media pages across campus. Provides training and education on best practices for content and engagement. 
  • Works closely with the University community (administration, faculty, staff, and students) to develop and enhance the content and presentation of their programs.
  • Develops editorial guidelines to ensure content is consistent with JSU brand, voice, style and tone.
  • Oversees the university’s social media policy, ensuring adherence by departments and units and overseeing the university-wide social media pages across campus. Notifies appropriate campus authorities and stakeholders of issues as they arise. 
  • Provides customer service to current and prospective students by answering questions and addressing concerns expressed via direct message as well as commentary. 
  • Assist with the communication strategy to address issues proactively and reactively as needed. 
  • Supports the overall division's goal to enhance branding and enrollment at Jacksonville State University.
  • Responsible for social media content planning, creation, and management of the university’s main social media accounts to support the university’s marketing and branding goals. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the administration and supervisors. 

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communication, journalism, or a closely related field 
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in content creation, social media content, social media analytics, and marketing
