Normal Work Schedule:

Normal hours M-F 7:30am to 4:30pm but may vary depending on University need and some evening and weekend for special events.

Job Summary:

The Housekeeping Supervisor coordinates and supervises the work activities of assigned cleaning personnel to ensure facility areas of responsibility are maintained to the established cleaning standards. The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for inspecting the work of crew members and for handling emergencies within their area of responsibility.

Employees in this classification will be required to bend, stoop, climb stairs, kneel, crawl, reach to clean windows and door facings; lift and move student desks weighing 30 to 40 pounds, garbage bags weighing up to 55 pounds, buckets of water weighing up to 35 pounds; roll 35 gallon trash cans from one location to another; push and operate buffers and upright vacuums; carry shoulder vacuums, mops, broom and other cleaning supplies and equipment up and down stairs in performing tasks assigned to this role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises, instructs, plans, and assigns the work of crew members and inspects work to ensure conformance to prescribed standards of cleanliness.
  • Assigns, supervises and participates in housekeeping functions for a crew of housekeepers.
  • Inspects offices, classrooms, residence halls and hallways in order to evaluate for cleanliness, needed repairs and unsafe conditions.
  • Discusses special needs and remedies necessary for proper building maintenance with building occupants.
  • Assists with the training, coaching, and development of housekeepers, explaining policies, work procedures, and demonstrates use and maintenance of equipment, proper methods of cleaning, and use products.
  • Maximizes efforts towards productivity, identifying problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Prioritizes multiple tasks while demonstrating a sense of urgency to complete projects and to be detail oriented.
  • Keeps records of cleaning tasks completed and those to be done. Keeps records of attendance and performance of employees supervised.
  • Identifies and reports maintenance problems.
  • Exercises good judgment in making decisions.
  • Drives university vehicles in order to inspect work crews at different locations or transport cleaning equipment, cleaning supplies or boxes.
  • Participate in periodic heavy cleaning tasks and routine housekeeping duties, as required.
  • Responsible for keeping team encouraged and motivated.
  • Oversee safe use of cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent,
  • at least two (2) years housekeeping experience, and
  • at least two (2) years in a supervisory role
  • Valid driver’s license

The HVAC Mechanic II works at the journeyman level to perform service and maintenance on various refrigeration and air conditioning installations and equipment.  Tasks are completed according to established trade practices under the direction of a senior level HVAC mechanic or the HVAC supervisor, and is reviewed for compliance with instructions and adequate completion.  The HVAC Mechanic II works rotating shifts; special situations or emergencies may necessitate reporting on a scheduled off-day.
