Job Summary:

The Transfer Admissions Counselor advises and counsels prospective students about the college selection process and the benefits of a Jax State education in their geographical and admit-type territory. They also continuously represent the University in a positive professional manner. This position is responsible for assisting the Associate Director in the development and implementation of strategic enrollment planning for recruitment initiatives for Jax State. The position serves as the primary point of contact students and provides technical assistance and serves as a resource person for students, staff, and faculty.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Associate Director with all aspects of recruitment and marketing of Jacksonville State University at information sessions to qualifying prospective students, participating in student briefings, college fairs, visitation events, and on-campus events for undergraduate freshman, transfer, Dual Enrollment Students and other related activities/events that are designed to promote the University.  
  • In collaboration with the Associate Director, creates and implements an individual marketing plan to include knowledge of assigned territory history, area alumni, competitors, and factors of influence to assist the university in successfully achieving its educational mission.  
  • Manages a geographic territory of prospective students focused on transfer students and provides reports, updates, and feedback to the Associate Director and Director of Admissions related to recruitment activities within the territory.  
  • Visits schools and community events, and responds to routine inquiries, and disseminates information about the programs and services offered by Jax State.  
  • Maintains ongoing communication with prospective students and their families and provides admissions advising as needed.  
  • Develop strong professional relationships with college and community advisors and administrators 
  • Maximizes recruitment activities by presenting to potential students, parents and administrators about academic programs, admissions criteria and financial aid awarding to prospective students and families.  
  • Maintains ongoing awareness of role expectations and established enrollment goals, and performs duties focused on meeting those goals.  
  • Serves as a resource to students, families, faculty, and staff regarding Jax State admission families and follows-up with interested students through admission and enrollment. 
  • Works closely with Admissions processing staff to coordinate troubleshooting and resolution of individual student situations and issues. 
  • Participates in and assists with on-campus recruitment events (Preview Days, Admitted Student Days, etc.) and takes a greater role in planning transfer-related events.  
  • Proactively partners with various university departments and Assistant Director of Campus Visits to coordinate and conduct campus tours.  
  • Participates in professional development activities to stay abreast of emerging trends in the field.  
  • Serves on committees as assigned.  
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must pass a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)

The Locksmith II performs journeyman-level tasks in the repair, resetting and installation of locking devices, and in the manufacture of keys.  The Locksmith II is self-sufficient and works individually in the delivery of keys, locks, reparation of doors, hardware or broken glass.
